Darren Aronofsky Biography
Born on February 12, 1969 in Brooklyn, New York (USA). A native of Brooklyn, Darren Aronofsky grew up in a traditional Jewish family, but he turns away fast enough religion to take an interest in art. Darren Aronofsky studied the techniques of production and animation at the prestigious Harvard University, where he met the future interpreter of Pi , Sean Gullette , with whom he runs his short graduation, Supermarket Sweep .
With this film, Darren Aronofsky joined the American Film Institute where he remained two years. In 1996, he managed to gather the necessary $ 60,000, thanks to his friends and relatives, to the realization of Pi which allows him to win the prize for directing at the Sundance Festival in 1988. Building on this success, he decided to adapt the novel Last Exit to Brooklyn to Hubert Selby Jr. in Requiem for a Dream . Living hell drug-related, the film is unmistakeable with its editing effects and theme composed by Clint Mansell . Become a cult film for many young filmmakers after only two films, Darren Aronofsky moves away from the streets of New York to write a fantasy story about immortality. Darren Aronofsky then puts over six years to produce and direct The Fountain , presented at the Venice Film Festival in September 2006. He leads including his fiancee, actress Rachel Weisz .
Dividing both the public and the critics, the film does not meet the success of Requiem for a Dream . Aronofsky is recovery time with less personal project, The Wrestler , which runs the script in Hollywood in recent years. Carried by a Mickey Rourke reborn in the role of an old wrestler , the film captivated by a scene far more harsh and restraint than in the past. Awarded the Golden Lion at Venice, it also allows Rourke to find a special place in Hollywood by winning the Golden Globe for Best Actor in 2009. Two years later, the filmmaker sign a thriller about the world of dance and ballet, Black Swan , which puts Natalie Portman and Vincent Cassel at the top of the poster.
